“Talk. They Hear You.” Campaign
SAMHSA’s substance use prevention campaign helps parents and caregivers start talking to their children early about the dangers of alcohol and other drugs.
Teens Care Too
We are a group of high school leaders (or teens) that are not afraid to take a stand in favor of positive and healthy choices. We are committed to keeping our peers substance free and helping them make healthy choices.
BeWellVA
BeWellVA is a collaboration of the seven Community Services Boards from Central Virginia. Our focus is to bring awareness to the increasing number of deaths by suicide and to promote wellness for life!
Hidden in Plain Sight
Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS) is a free community initiative to help educate parents on possible signs of drug and alcohol use by teens. A teenager’s bedroom is replicated to allow parents to “snoop” around to find indicators of drug use and hiding spots.
Medication Safety
Learn how to safely store and dispose of medications.
Café Conversations
Café Conversations is designed to engage parents along with their middle school youth in an open and honest conversation about substance use, peer pressure, social media, how hard it is to be a kid today, and other issues facing our teens.
Driving School Packets
Obtaining a driver’s license is certainly a privilege, and Hanover Cares wants to ensure your safety by giving you a few “Keys to Success.” Getting a driver’s license is an exciting time, but can also come with other challenges and risks. As a community coalition, we want to see you succeed, stay safe, and make smart choices as a new drive.
Project Sticker Shock
Sticker Shock is a prevention program that is youth-led. The program is designed to support existing, and encourage new community activism, cooperative efforts, and community capacity building to combat underage drinking and its related problems, specifically adults providing alcohol to minors.
